I have a HDD mentioned is subject. It spins up, makes some noise, but becomes ready in several seconds. I've connected it using PC3000 Portable and here's what I get when launching WD Marvell utility: Ключ технорежима Ключ технорежима........................ : Ok ОЗУ: Чтение информации о HDD................. : Ok К-во головок............................ : 8 Cyl Count............................... : 192 Таблица зонного распределения........... : Ошибка чтения ОЗУ HDD - Device Error Detected: "VSCE PERM OVL NOT LOADED. The first error message says there's HDD RAM read error. What's the problem and what should I do? |

Drive can't read the SA. Need a compatible loader to try access SA or try hot swap (not sure if possible in PC3K Portable). |

Thanks for the files, I'm going to try to do something about them tomorrow. What is hot swap? I do have PC3000 UDMA as well, but without data extractor. |

It's in the manual. A method to access the SA on a bad drive when the drive does not init. on its own. Need a working donor for this. |

I agree, but considering the op clearly has very minimal understanding of a (potentially) complex situation, my opinion here is to outsource it or at least try to get some remote support on it. |

Always know your own limitations. |

You're right, I've got only basic knowledge and skill in HDD repair and recovery. Still, the data from this HDD has to be recovered, and outsourcing is not an option. I'm willing to learn, and I don't do anything funky without double-checking, so if you're willing to provide me with some additional advice and guidance on this matter, I'll be very grateful. |

Do you have LDR? Do you know how to load from LDR? does spindle remain powered? Have you changed PCB, or attempted short circuit of PCB? Do you have donor for hotswap if required? Do you know which SA modules can safely be replaced/repaired if damaged? MindStorm wrote: Чтение Flash ROM dir.................... : Ok Чтение Flash ROM dir (ext).............. : Ok (Active) Can you access DIR table by switching relevant ROM mods ? Why is outsourcing not an option? |

Hello. 1) I have the LDR provided by labtech earlier in this thread. I believe I can load LDR when the WD utility is launched, or later using the menus. I've increased HDD timeout and was able to load LDR. 2) No, spindle stops after some time, and HDD lights up DRD and DSC LEDs. 3) Didn't do anything to PCB (except for the cleaning of the contacts with the eraser, for just in case). 4) I don't have a donor available. 5) I believe PC3000 marks the modules that can be safely replaced when viewing the modules list. 6) This one I don't quite understand. I can the table that lists SA regions numbered 0 thru 7 with adresses and sizes. Is that it? |
