If you have the UDMA PC3K this comes with a book. Inside the book from ACE gives you all this information. You will need to study this book carefully and read it to find this answer. I do not advise to random write donor tracks to your HDD if you have no idea what you are doing on this one. Read the manual and study this one first. If you do not own the PC3000 from ACE and you own the one from China it is not supported here on this forum and questions on the China version will not be answered.

The manual will tell you how to write them, but not when it is appropriate to do it. Mostly, writing tracks is done to achieve compatible donor for SMART hotswap. Often donor tracks written and patient adaptives restored achieves a repair, but all is dependant on the specific problem and specific situation of your case.

But to write tracks in error, or without relevant backup, or without experience in dealing with tracks, you can run risk of causing irreversible damage and unrecoverable data.

Why do you ask, what issues do you have with a WD?
