I need to recover data from a Seagate ST2000DM.

Hdd do not knock, i can ear motor startup end it go to ready, but utility cannot recognize it.
I see follow on Terminal report :

Boot 0x40M
Spin Up
TCC-0018[0x00026F7C][0x000273E8][0x00027854]
Trans.

Rst 0x40M
MC Internal LPC Process
Spin Up
TCC-0018
(P) SATA Reset

MCMTFileHandler: EXCEPTION: Failed MCMT read request
MCMTFileHandler: EXCEPTION: Failed MCMT read request
MCMainPOR: EXCEPTION: SIM aborted prior to MCMT read
MCMainPOR: EXCEPTION: POR Failed General
MCMainPOR: Feature Disabled...

I have Terminal access with CTRL-Z and i trie Smart Clear and translation regeneration. Either end well, but nothing change for ID problem.

Some one can help me ?

Thank you

Hi Dear Friend Powermax
Your Drive Is New F3 And Your Problem Is Not Bigs I Have Comes 2 Case With Same Problem But My Drive Is ST500DM002 Both Are Spining OK With No Any Clicking Sounds.
If Give The Full Terminal Screen Shot And Firmware Information Or Drive And PCB Picture Then I Tell You Something More.
And Ya Friend Dont Apply Any Type Of Translator Commands Otherwise When Your Problem Is Solved But Drive Is Stuck In Parcial Sector Access Problem And Some Time Utility Fail To Solve That Issue.

Thank You

Based on your Log:

MCMTFileHandler: EXCEPTION: Failed MCMT read request
MCMTFileHandler: EXCEPTION: Failed MCMT read request
MCMainPOR: EXCEPTION: SIM aborted prior to MCMT read
MCMainPOR: EXCEPTION: POR Failed General
MCMainPOR: Feature Disabled...

some options/features MUST be disabled in SA
cannot do that w/o proper tools with MANUAL editing flags

Symptoms:

hdd BZ then RDY registers with NO SECTORS access, becomes BZ when trying to access sectors

thats all

good luck

Suggest to start a new thread.
This drive has bad sectors and possibly a bad head. Before issuing commands it is a good idea to check heads condition. More specifically SA heads.

You probably need a donor, I see little can be recovered on this case until you replace the head.
