Head linearizing refers to specific adaptive parameters Modern drives use special mathematical model to predict next HSA position after reading a servo mark. Predicting HSA position allows a drive to skip reading of one (or more) following servo marks but still maintain correct position thus improve data reading/writing performance. Linearizing parameters are crucial in that mathematical model. Loosing original linearizing parameters might make the drive completely unresponsive and data on it unrecoverable. |
