Probably the drive has bad heads, that's why it spins down.

Also, you can't edit map in RAM because probably pc3k does not have the right ram address for that family.

I know this tread is really old, but I haven't been able to find a solution to this here or on ACE's forum. I have the same drive with practically the same issue.

- Drive POWERS ON
- Makes a slight stucking sound, THEN Powers off
- But in PC-3000 it is DRD DSC

Hi,

Your drive might have heads or FW issues.
Have you tried to disable SA regions and load a loader?

Thank you for the help.

Yes, I tried to upload LDR and I got this message:

Module (0001) read error Module ID 01 reading error Data request error - Device Error Detected: "DISK SERVO SPINDLE SPINUP ERROR"

I think it may be bad heads also, but I wanted to be 100% sure before.

Thanks again.

UPDATE: In my case it was the heads. Replaced it with a good donor and its reading good. For some reason head 5 is not reading well at all. I'm assuming platter damage, but I'm going to image everything else and come back to that later.

Thank you DRCP.
