Dear team
I am working on a toshiba hard disk. I could not image disk in udma unless ' read ignore crc selected' ( I have already built software translator and done all what i could do , disk has no firmware or error list issue.
My concern is whether imaged data without crc will be ok? I have not done this before.
pls.guide.Thank you

Most likely not. Typically is garbage.

Thanks labtech , You have saved lot of my time ( otherwise I would not have come to know this till slowly imaging entire 250 Gb disk)
Thank you so much

You are welcome.
At this point, I would focus more on the hardware, ensure it is in working condition, then move onto the firmware. Unless the drive is severely degraded in all areas, most likely the problem lies in the firmware.

If I may, what is the full drive model of the drive, please?

Yes I think it is head issue , I checked all CP's including p -list can be read without error.

I checked G list it seems to be Ok. It has 1341 entries.
Is it normal or a overgrown one? besides I can access all sectors using one head so there may not be issue with defect lists,
unlike seagate there is no way to check heads. ironically even seagate head checking is not accurate. Often in udma head resistance seems to be ok but no data can be read from particular head.
attached is g list,

Sounds like failing head. Change them for peace of mind.

If can access LBAs on one head, but not another, then definitely head issue.
Even with those entries, g-list seems fine. At least for now.

yes labtech. thanks. final conclusion is head only ,now other working head is also showing defects. head transplant is only solution.
