Hi everyone, I am an absolute newbie in the work with the PC3000 and try to repair faulty Fujitsu MHW2160BH PL drive (I don´t care about the data, just for later using). I ran the SA structure test and here is the report: "Selected family......................... : MHW2xxxBH Selected model.......................... : MHWxxxxBH Model by HDD ID......................... : FUJITSU MHW2160BH PL Firewall state: 0 Unlocking... Firewall state: 2 Tech command set: SATA cmd set Reading module table from SA... Module table is loaded Loading : HS, head map module......................................... : Ok Loading : PL, single sector defect list and zone allocation table module : Error Error................................................................. : PL: Invalid zones distribution info (ZoneNo)!" After SA structure test, all important modules are OK (HS, PL!, overlay..), but no info on zone allocation (ZP module) after viewing ROM, there is some garbage in the header (copyright, F/W, date, family, CS..but modules table is OK) The drive reads and writes in LBA, but is not able to convert LBA to CHS (hiding defects) What do you think? Is there a problem in ROM or some faulty/missing modules? Anyway there is no PC3000 DB resource on this drive to compare with:o( Thanks Martin |

This drive is not correctly supported in PC3K. Zone information is not correctly decoded. IIRC, drive zones are about 96000 sectors at mid-diameter (~46 MB) for this drive, so that's some useful information you can use to get better chances to recover data from it, in case some heads are weak or dead. By the way, if you try to build a head map using DE, you'll see that the resulting map is VERY WRONG. It fails at some point, also, but you'll see sector-sized zones, which is just stupid. |

Well. Thanks for your reply. I really don´t care about zhe data on the drive, just want to use it later. The main problem is that there are faulty sectors and I am not able to convert the lba defect list to CHS to hide them in P-list. |
