Hi !
Does anyone knows how to change the I/O PORT address of the PCI PC-3000 Card on windows XP to another value ?

I would like to make some experiments with HDD Repair, in particular the cloning function of it, but it would be nice to use the PC-3000 Card to do my experimentations (instead of the use of the primary/sec port).

Is there any way to set my PCI PC3K card on PORT 0x100 instead of B400 ? Options to do so on my windows are disabled, so i can't change it there, is this value stored on windows registry or does the PC3K driver implements that I/O address ? Where should i look first to attempt to change it ?

Thanks.

Hi. I'm interested in this as well!
Check the port addresses in Victoria for Windows. Mine shows hex D000 - D00E and hex 0000 - 000E.
In Windows resources my card shows hex D000 - D03F
The resources appear to have fixed settings and can not be changed via the properties cp.

I think if we want to modify the resources in Windows it would require a modification of the PC3000 driver.
I don't know if this would work but have you tried to edit the repair.ini file in Hddrepair?
eg. edit any of the port details. So B400 would be 46080 decimal. Or would you just put in the current B400h address?

Hi !
I did try to open the PC3K driver with hex editor and can't find the port value on it. The same for the driver installer PC3kPCI.inf. I can't find where the port value is stored.

Changing HDDRepair ini file doesn't do a thing.

I was thinking the other way around the issue, so i've attempted to change the HDDRepair itself, by hex edit. Changed the 4 values that i've found of the primary port to sec port jus for testing and it doesn't work. Guess the changes would have to be done on the small port deriver that hddrepair uses.

They might even be using some sort of code to map ports instead of the actual port address in hex or decimal.

Do you have HDDRepair 2.0 ?

If not you can get it here for free :

I'm interested in testing the drive copy function using the PC-3000 card instead of using the drive connected to master/slave of primary/sec controller :

The problem there is that it would require changing the HDDRepair software as they don't have a port 100h on the cloning portion of the tool.

At any rate if i could change the PC-3000 address on windows to 0x170 that would work. My system doesn't have IDE sec port and that address is not in use, so there would be no conflicts and the PC-3000 would take port 0x170 and would work as sec.

Ok I played it bit.
In Hddrepair2 I edited the .ini file. For my setup I changed the Base Port value from 368 to 000 and then it picked up a drive connected to D000 on the pc3000 pci card.

Maybe you can try changing yours to 400? Without the B?

Software that you try to use "HDDRepair v2.0" is not finished and stolen from the author for a long time ago. Function "DriveCopy" is not likely to work. If you want to copy in PIO mode from disk to disk, you can use mediatools pro 5.
PCI Card I/O Port Address is specified in hardware, you cannot change it.

Thanks for the reply.

Changing the drive port of the PCI PC3K card would be of some use on other sittuations as well, like changing the address to IDE secundary port so that MRT (China HDD Maxtor tool) would work with the PC3K-PCI card instead of working on it's default (impossible to change) port. Also for other experimentation with old tools would be nice to have the drives plugged to the PCI-PC3K card instead of using motherboard ports.

To copy in PIO mode from disk to disk i can use the HRT-DRE (i do have legal original version), and it would be hardware assisted instead of software only (media tools).

Best regards.
