The one I have is slightly different...just haven't had any clients willing to pay for monolithic recovery.

Yes Luke, It is hard enough to get them to pay for regular flash recovery.

RF - Your thumb drive is a monolithic device and it will cost $1500 for us to recover the data, which may take several weeks to several months (depending on if there is we have a known pin map available)

Client- What!?!? I just paid $15 for this thumb drive at the Walmart checkout. I can buy a lot of thumb drives for that price.

RF - You sure can. And every one of them will be without the data that is currently lost on this one.

Client - I guess I'll have to go find old copies of files and recreate those that I cannot find.

RF - Not a problem. Here is your dead thumb drive back. Sorry we couldn't help.

We have these. Besides monolith recoveries it works great for non-standard memory chips.
Note that it requires 3rd version of the reader, as earlier ones don't have the port to connect the adapter.

I'm attaching a photo of slightly different, earlier revision of the set made early autumn '14.

True :) Although we charge less, from time to time we hear exactly the same words here.
And they don't care that besides the pinout there can be things like mask for complex adaptive XOR algorithm, which is to be created manually. The drive is cheap, so it should be cheap to recover.

Hello,

Sorry, we co-organize data recovery conference this week, so it's more than busy and I just got a few minutes for something else.
This is a photo I made 9 months ago and just pulled it from my phone for this topic.
No, we use these adapters ourselves, don't sell them and actually, think of expanding our fleet. We're also getting microSD recoveries within our partner program and they frequently occupy equipment for a long time.
