SATA Laptop HDD doesn't connect to a USB 3 - SATA adapter

have an old Fujitsu MHV2080BH HDD from a laptop. It states on the HDD that it is SATA but for the life of me I can not get a SATA data cable to connect to it. It seems like the gap between the pins and the outside of the connector is not enough to allow the SATA cable to fit. I have some pictures that show both the details of the HDD and the connecto
