Dear Friends
I have got this case ---
Seagate Mobile HDD 1 TB
ST1000LM035
FW - RKM2

I am using PC3000 UDMA ( latest build 7.1.6) , I am unable to read ROM hence not able to recover data.
ROM is native ,but due to some issue I am unable to read it.
Is there any way to read rom using some secret technique. I can give remote access for the same.

Hi Good Morning pepe & Tomset. Thank you both of your for your guidance.
I am absolutely not sure its 8C family as I don't know which model belongs to which family ( I don't hesitate to confess ,I have very poor background about latest firmwares. I have just renewed TS and want to have at least operational level of mastery.
Tomset sorry I didn't mention though I have latest version of PC3000 ,I use older USB 2.0 terminal. It is not having this voltage specific settings.
I am ordering this adapter ,let's hope to read rom.

You need new v.3 of adapter to read.

Yes I have ordered it and will give it a try with new adapter

old adapter works perfectly at 1.8V, just slower, so i doubt the adapter is the issue. try it at 480k or 115k, should be working.

I am trying to read rom at various speeds but again getting same error. I will update again

Yes you are 100% correct , issue is not in adapater. I have got USB 3.0 adapater ,but there is no change in symptoms .I think problem is somewhere else.

I've had this a few times in the past with rosewood_af drives. Reducing the read speed right down works sometimes as does reading using the generic utility under working with flash rom. Never found a specific reason for it as it doesn't happen often enough to look into. Just keep plugging at it.

Thanks. As you have suggested I will keep trying at lower speeds.

Can you post a picture of your v.3 adapter?

here it is ,its from ace only .
I have tried all speeds but no success .Finally I have given up and informed customer that recovery is not possible .I cannot cross technical limits

When I start reading nothing happens , rom is not getting read. I didn't got any error as well.

i meant if you get any output when powering the PCB up. Not reading rom, nothing, just hook the pcb up to power cable and serial port.
What do you get on terminal if you power it up?

Yes I have done exactly same , isolated pcb and powered up. But nothing appears on terminal ,its totally blank.

I'm assuming the PCB doesn't spin up the drive. If so, then it may be that the MCU is dead or is not receiving power, in which case it would be pointless to expect PC3K to read the the ROM.
