Post subject: | Toshiba old drive (SATA) with G-List corruption |
Hi All, Long time since I got such drive. Model : TOSHIBA MK3261GSYN Firmware : MH000C9 Capacity : 320 GB (625 142 448) The drive give full ID, read all its CP but have a damge in its G-List. I tried to create virtual translator with Data Extractor - didn't help. Is there a way to fix the drive with the utility? I tried to erase the G-List but the action didn't succeed to erase it - got error instead. Can anyone give any tip or direct me? When tring to create virtual translator with the utility I get the following errors: Techno ON............................... : Ok LBA (1 431 985 085) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 218 373 799) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (719 813 164) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (762 199 078) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 592 144 163) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 844 026 267) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 651 970 801) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (870 205 334) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (678 585 539) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 598 086 929) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 490 496 421) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 428 661 880) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (937 820 041) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 474 653 937) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 353 538 979) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (2 034 609 521) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (666 985 622) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 405 515 235) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 182 720 644) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 846 357 352) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 164 184 343) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 011 115 497) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (937 766 713) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 136 502 119) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 122 522 955) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 227 050 936) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) LBA (1 687 322 554) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) Best Regards, |

All those LBAs far exceed the capacity of the drive. :-? Would you mind uploading the Glist? |

Can you dump the SA (read service tracks)? When PC3K builds a virtual translator, I suppose that it would try to use both the P-list and G-list, and the zone table CP in the ROM. Is the P-list (CP 0xDD) OK? |

Try reading with the utility it gives you an option to use pba and bypass the damaged glist I think. Does the drive come ready? I've used hddsuperclone successfully on low capacity tosh's which refused to play nicely with pc3k. |

Any Ideas? |

Quote: LBA (2 034 609 521) to CHS conversion error:; Device Error Detected 51/21 (AMN;<bit5>) This LBA corresponds to a capacity of 1TB. It seems to me that, if you can determine why PC3K is attempting to build a virtual translator with this ridiculous LBA, then you will be closer to finding a solution. |

Is the G-List in this drive actually supported by your version of PC3K? |
