Anyone have these resources.
Hawk2 - WD2500JS-40SGB0 - FW 06.04C
Checked out the usual places and cannot find it.

Wow, I've got 89 different Hawk2 resources, all of them 08xxxx
Sorry, nothing here.

yeah, me too...
Have you been able to back up SA using other version?

Thanks for checking guys.
It's a weird one that's for sure. Drive had a power surge that took out the PCB and ROM. Swapped for another PCB and can get access to the drive with several 08xxx ROMs. I can see from mods what firmware the drive is. I did get sent matching firmware yesterday (seemed like a perfect match). But when I upload the ROM to the PCB it never comes RDY. This is exactly the same issue with the original ROM which made me think it was corrupt. But like I say I can get access to SA via an 08xxx ROM. I asked ACE to log in and take a look in case I was missing something (drive is 2006 so don't see that many). They confirmed from the SA the FW is 06.04C.
Its a head scratcher. It acts like the donor ROM is not the right firmware. Client said the drive did not go to anyone else before coming to us. In fact he had two drives affected by the power surge and we recovered the second.

Can you upload the original ROM and the "compatible" donor? Just curious ...
Could we see the damaged PCB?

The only differences between patient and donor appear to be in module 0x47, as is to be expected. All the checksums are OK.
I think this drive uses the same PCB:

Yep. I have recovered Mod 47, but does not make any difference. Like I say weird. Still work in progress.... Thanks for looking.

I would check the resistances. Your PCB was prone to failure in this respect.

Sorry I meant to post a pic of the PCB.
Checking resistance might be an understatement in this case....
We are using a fully working donor PCB.

What is the PCB number? Could it be that the patient ROM does not match the donor's MCU?
AISI, the overvoltage was on the 12V rail, so the preamp is unlikely to have been affected.

That doesn't make sense. I think the PCB is not native. The date codes on the 5V TVS diode and SDRAM are 941 and 943, respectively. That's weeks 41 and 43 of 2009.

So where did the patient ROM dump come from? :-?

Sorry, my dumbass fault, that was the pic of the Seagate PCB.
I can confirm the MCUs on patient and donor do match.
fzabkar wrote:So where did the patient ROM dump come from?

It was from the patient ROM. As it didn't come RDY on the donor PCB I presumed it was a bad PCB.
Now the donor ROM doesn't work that hypothesis may not have been correct.

We have a donor, Hawk2 WD2500JS-040SGB0 with firmware 20.
06C04 according to Hard Disk Sentinel Professional:
https://drive-for-parts.com/WD2500JS-41 ... -DRIVE-D77Could this possibly be similar firmware, but read differently because of endianness?
Although, from a technical point of view we can extract the firmware, for copyright reasons — unless we obtain an authorization from Western Digital — we won't share such ressource and would suggest that you simply buy the hard drive if it meets your needs.
