Skp to next head on PC3000 DE

While there are a few exceptions when this method isn't 100% perfect, here is a way to setup PC3000 Data Extractor to skip to next head on a specific number of read errors. It has taken me a very long time to clue in that this could be done and I've been using this method for a few months and can confirm that it is very helpful. Not, it isn't as robust as DeepSpar Disk Imager or MRT Data Explorer, but it is definitely better than nothing at all.
I made a short video of how to do it on YouTube. Here is the link to

i've been using this since ages... however this all depends on the map you generate... it skips to the next chain and if it is the next file (or same file but another fragment), it won't skip the entire head band.

This is true, thus why it isn't perfect. In theory, it might have to do a few skips before getting to the next head, depending on how fragmented the chain you are working with is. The key here is that it is better than having to completely disable a head when you know that it is likely only a few small patches where it has issues.
That said, the MRT algorithms to skip to next head and the ability to stop reading the head all toghether, depending on set criteria would be nice to see. But, as I told Roman, I'd rather see a simple gui for making AFH adjustments.

Hello. Another ways is you can refer
https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=40870find out the average zone size. Just put those many sectors to jump in DE.
However it may skip a little more than required.

It is rare for drives to have consistant head zone sizes, though that is definitely another way to approach it.

Sure. My short experience has not really opened up portal for rare cases.
Any how, I always wanted to understand if the VB scripts or "scripts" in the DE could help with this issue.
Any leads ? with any one ?
