I have PC3000 UDMA and trying to use USB or eSATA for destination drives I'm getting a lot of issues where it fails to write to the destination randomly and I have to close DE task and reopen to get it going again. I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend eSATA or USB docks that work well with DE destination drives?

That's not likely to have anything to do with DE. The only time I've had problems with any destination type is when it's run out of capacity. Does everything work correctly channel to channel and channel to internal SATA ?

Yes it works great channel to channel. Internal SATA works great but I'm just trying to find a hot pluggable solution.

Have you tested sustained writes to the external drives via other applications and checked power management / savings etc.

Have you considered putting a couple of hotswap caddies in the machine and just connecting them to the internal sata ports.
