I have Grenada 58 family disk ST500DM002 -C45 , I am unable to get firmware access & hence proper sector access ( sector can be read but lots of defects even in MFT's)
What should I do now.

locked firmware?
Check in terminal if does accept commands.
If fw is locked, when you send commands on terminal, it will respond "locked"

you can send commands also if is locked, but if is locked it returns "locked".
For example, you can check if P-list is available with command V10 in level T if fw is not locked.
Does it show P-list log in terminal if you send V10 command?

I get DiagError for both V10 & V40 commands.

Switch the power without turning off the terminal.
Then press Ctrl Z and Ctrl X.
This log will be more informative. Apparently (5104), not everything is read in the CA

???
Select the correct (USB-TTL) terminal voltage level.
I don't know how to do this on the PC3000.
Check the connections.
