Post subject:  Heads or Firmware issue? what is the difference

Hello everyone

I'm a newbie to PC-3000 so bear with me please.

I've got a WD Mervell Tresselb that is not detect from PC3K "only SN is been detecting".
what could be the problem? are the heads the problem? or the Firmware?

If the Firmware is the Problem, is there any tutorial how to fix it using PC-3K?

Please check out the attached images.

Use your ears to listen to the HDD as you power the drive on. It'll be pretty obvious if the heads have failed.

Hi Skinbob,
Thanks for your answer.
As some people and forums suggest that the symptoms are somehow similar, if I'm not mistaking.

I personally find if the drive spins up and stays spinning then the heads are ok, or they can at least read from the service area.

I can't remember specifics for each manufacturer, but for most manufacturers, if the heads have failed they will spin up and down several times before giving up and staying spun down.
