Hello everyone,

I am starting a new topic, might be mentioned somewhere in this forum but can not find it.

I notice different behavior with some WD SMR disks than before. Had this issue with a SMR disk (WD40NDZW-11BCSS1) couple of months ago, PC3000 support said heads had to be changed but I couldn't find a suitable donor so had to give it up. Now I have the same behavior with a WD20JDRW-11C7VS0.

The symptoms are: the drive starts spinning but when it reaches full rpm I hear a small click (unpark heads and probably trying to read fw) but it does immediate spin-down and remains in busy state. The old hdd's were making several attempts/clicks before spinning down. Tried to do changes in rom (shift SA regions, block module 02 and 30 access, etc.), changed head map to default, switched-off heads, still the same behavior.

Anyone knows if this is really a problem with the heads or a fw. issue?

Thanks in advance for your replies.
