Seagate 7200.8 not getting on speed

Hi Friends,

I've got a 250 GB seagate 7200.8 that reports the following in the terminal:

Interface task reset
4096k x 16 buffer detected
TONKA - 1_Disk M-27 03-30-05 11:42

Buzz -

The heads do not move, so i guess it is not comming to the correct speed.

However, the spindle is rotating very smoothly. The heads and pcb have been changed without any progress.

Has anyone an idea what could be wrong here ?

Thanks in advance,

Dobre

Hi Marc,

What do you mean by rotating very smoothly?
I must be spindle problems.

Hi David,

Well, according to what is see the drive is rotating at full speed; i cannot find any problem with the spindle.
Very strange.

Best regards,

Dobre

Dobre,

You sure it's not a stray screw stuck underneath the top magnet??!!

Hi Duncan,

Thanks for the suggestion, but i've already passed that stage :)

However, i doublechecked and then noticed the disk had made a severe headcrash :(

All turned into data-dust (@ pcimage 8) ).

Best regards,

Dobre
