Problem with UDMA

Hi Friends,

My PC3K UDMA behaves strange!
All is fine when just one drive is attached, but as soon as i attach a drive to the second channel and power it, the drive on the first channel starts to click.
I can read some data, then it clicks again after a few seconds, i can read again etc ...
If i power the second drive down, no problem at all.
Anyone who also experienced this ?
I suspect a problem with the powerboard.

Dobre

Change your SMPS (power Supply Unit).

This happens when your power supply is not working fine.

I recommend at least 600Watt SMPS. Coolermaster/ Antec/ Vantec.

It's better, as I never had problems with UDMA like that.

Some newer power supplies have short circuit protection incorporated into v-reg, my main rig for drive recovery started having the same problem after I had to replace the power supply with an emergency backup after a power surge. I used to be able to change drives hotswap in XP, but now it bluescreens from the voltage drop when a new drive is plugged in.
