Good day gurus,

I am trying to recover data from a Toshiba MK8025GAS and went I plug it in, Christmas lights light up. I tried other jumper settings and same thing. I tried a working Toshiba MK8025GAS and went from busy to ready. I moved jumpers around with working Toshiba and it went from busy to ready.
Any thoughts?
I am confused.
Thanks

Hello,

If i understand clearly, you have pcb problem.
I suggest to resolder the ee, and try the new pcb...

(Additionally, not exactly in this case, but generally take care about random jumpering, because you can damage the pcb!
You can short some gnd and 5V lines, or 2 output pins with different logical level, or can drive overvoltage to the 2V7 or 3V3 serial input/output on another drives....)

Regards,
Janos

If that is the case, I have a pretty much unrecoverable drive because of the NVRAM or ROM. Correct?

From the main PC3000 screen you need to select TOOLS --> CABLE SELECT CONTROL --> ATA0/1 depending on the channel your toshiba is connected to.
