I have a 40GB maxtor HDD(ares c64k) with all mods ok. Its surface shows all sectors bad. I have a large quantity of this model. Most of them have same problem. Help me out if you have some solution.

He wants to refurbish them. There is a repeat 4 times on same post and same drive. Looks like he got stuck with a pile of crap drives. These drives have tons of errors on them. Plus do believe he has the Maxtor DR from SD on this one and it can handle to refurbish it and he needs or is looking for another way to do this one.

Yes poehere is right. I want to repair them. The only issue is drive shows bad sectors entirely. Self scan does not work. If I run SS then firmware become corrupted after that. Is there another way to remove bad sectors.

Did you try MHDD to remap the bad sectors and then zerofill the drive.
