im looking into purchasing a hard drive head alignment tool

on some hard drives they have a parking head
if every hard drive has this
it would make our life much easy
but they dont.

anyone know where i can buy a tool for maxtor and toshiba
or any other hard drive tools

yes i seen that but some people say its ok not great
because when your unscrewing the screws on the platter
the screws can touch the platter and damaged it

im waiting for hdrc india to go online
they waiting for copywrite protection before going on sale.
this looks good as the platter does not come into contact with the screws at all.

Craig......so far, "commercial" tools for jerking with heads/platter is HPE from Xly. Second option is that bullshit indian company (I mean it...) and third is to wait for Clarke's product which seems quite stable.....

as for the company in indian its a real company and i been in contact
with there uk branch
just have to give them time as they are new

plus its going to piss of a lot of companys too
who supply tools at a higher cost rate

ok i got a hard drive in and its needs the platters removing.
can anyone tell me of a company that sells hard drive platter extract.

i know salvation data does but the only problem is
that the screws could fall of and damaged the platter.


anyone have who has bought this tool and can tell me what its like.

Actually, Salvation's product has a disc that goes over the platters. Dropped screws fall on this disc. I've never seen in person (Has anyone?) the one from India, but from what I can tell, the Salvation product is much better.

What I told about that Indian company (HDRC) is because of the "Image" they have created for themselves. They have done all those things, which is done by spammers, thugs and frauds. They have spammed this forum..no photograph or any visible proof of even any sort of existence about their product..no technical information..hell lot of spelling mistakes like a newbie..even when it's about the price..("Price : Desktop - USD 390; Desktop - USD 450."..What is the fucking difference between both of them?). Morever, you can see Dmitriy's advice about that company ("Try a search for "hdrconline.com" on this forum"-Dmitriy) and yes, one of our fellow member has also visited their "magical" world..you can see his reviews in this forum somehwere...look out for Amarbir
And, they have "NO" such UK branch. They only have some tie-ups with "droid.it" only on the training side. It's not their branch, only strategical contracts on the online training issue.

As shahi stated, Xlysoft is the chinese name for salvationdata...I was talking about the Heads Platter Exchagner from them..

And, by clarke's product, I mean Dunkan Clarke of retrodata- A fellow member of the field and this forum. He seems to be involved seriously in developing a kind of stable tool for working with Heads/Platters...Though, it's not complete yet and and don't know, how much time it is going to take either. Also, price could also become a factor....

as really you can not use a magnetic screw driver to unscrew with

i wonder if you could add some type of plexiglass inside the canister
with the holes drilled out for removing the screws from the hard drive
and then they wont come into contact with the platters.

I have Salvation's product. I like it. It seems a bit flimsy, but it's likely due to necessity. If you're very delicate, it should hold the platters tight enough. The metal disc is part of the design, and covers the surface of the top platter. You can drop all the screws without worry. What worries me somewhat is the disc itself scratching the top platter. There are little rivets that hold little clips to the disc, and those rivets might scratch the platter. I've been thinking of what to put on the bottom of the disc that would protect the platter, yet not contaminate it. Best I could come up with so far is a cleanroom wipe.

How clean are hospital surgery products a possible avenue to look into. Besides implements they use a wide asorted range of materials, all sterile clean.

Maybe there is some theatre equipment that could be adapted. Maybe the titanium implements made for strength and light in use.
