I had a tool made for freeing up stuck bearings in Seagate, Maxtor, WD, and Hitachi 3.5" drives. I have some extras for sale - they are well made. If anyone is interested, please PM me. Included are special (long) screws and instructions.

My only problem with this design is that your applying a rotational force away from its center thus increasing the chance of a vibration.
