firmware problem

i have hitachi 80 gb laptop serial ata hard disk its model no is HTS541080G9AT00 but it showing HTQ541080G9AT00 IN CMOS AND DIVICE MANAGER IN WINDOWS XP AND ALSO SHOWN 7.8 GB CAPACITY OF HDD HOW TO CHANGE IF FIRM WARE I DOWNLOADED HDDGURU FIRMWARE UTILITY IT IS DISPLAY NO NEED TO UPDATE UR HDD FIRMWARE I REPLACE SAME HDD PCB BUT IT DIDNT DETECT IN CMOS. CAN ANYBODY HAVE ANY UTILITY FOR THAT.

I agree with spaz, i think your cable is bad. Try connecting a different HDD to see if symptoms are the same, or connect your HDD through different interface such as USB
