DeepSpar DDI

I'm planning on purchasing a Deepspar imager and am trying to decide on a new one vs used. Do you receive free software updates with the unit and can an older DDI be upgraded to ver 3 or is the hardware itself different? I understand a new one will get me a year warranty and tech support. I am certainly weighing all my options here.

The h/w is the same, it's just the s/w on the flash that's different. Easily upgradeable if you have the file.

Used? Where are the used ones? I have 3 of these units and would buy some more today if used ones came up at a decent price!

Ha, yeah I've only found one person who is selling one. Seems people hold onto these things like gold.

I'd go for new, I have 14 of them and each one has paid for itself hundreds of times over.

The software updates are provided on an FTP server that the genuine user has access to and we have had free updates for the last 3 years so far with no subscription/maintenance/support costs.

I suppose it depends on whether they also give you their FTP credentials and also whether Deepspar would be happy about this.

Just FYI, used is by far the way to go. The problem is finding them used. I don't even do data recovery as a primary service and I can't imagine life without this thing. I saved about $1500 US and still get free updates and FTP / forum access for free.

Finding a used one is like finding a woman who doesn't complain. The only way I can see one becoming available is if a company shuts.

If you find a second hand one, you will feel like sending deepspar the difference of what you saved over a new one.
