Well i have an identical drive and connected the pcb from working drive to broken 1 and it worked perfect could read and write. so the problem is with the pcb board must be the firmware on a flash rom so im looking to read off working board and flash to broken 1 if its posible. u c what happened the drive i connected it to my parents computer which has 2 sata connections which are never used and drive was not recognised so i said i will shut down computer and then start it back up to recognise drive (wasnt thinking rite) and still wasnt recognised so brought it back to laptop and nothing. wouldnt work, not recognised in bios or anything. its a funny 1 but it happened. so i was read a min ago about some of the firmware stored on hard disk platters but seen as i connected a working pcb to disk and it worked it must just b flash rom on pcb. any help would b greatly appreciated thanks!!

Not likely the flash rom, probably the MCU.
