Example board: 2061-701444-800, Tornado and others.
When internal ROM in MCU is damaged, it is possible to reconfigure the board to use external U12 ROM instead.
All seems to works very fine with that except for one important thing: For some reason it is not possible to wake up the drive after StdBy with recalibration command. No spin up and stays BSY. It is also not possible to start after altering the head map in RAM. No spin up after Soft RST. Same reason I guess. Tested this on several boards. Same problem. So, it appears that things work different depending on active ROM is internal or external. I can't understand why. Anyone have a solution or ideas for this? PM if you like.

Interesting. I have been looking at some drives lately with the converse problem, that they don't want to spin down when you tell them to standby.

Arthur,
Do you know how to force 2061-701499-500 board with 88i6745n
to boot from external U12 ROM like 25p10 or 25p20 ?
