Hello
I'm trying to figure out if my drive is a Barracuda 7200.12 or not.
The problem is that seagate lists the model ST31000524AS on its website as the Barracuda 7200.12 1TB drive while I have a ST31000528AS.
Also, does anybody know the differences between these two models?
I think mine (the 528AS) is a PHARAOH drive, but I don't know the codename of the other one.
Best regards

Top right corner of the white label should say 7200.11 or 7200.12
ST31000528AS = 7200.12
difference between 7200.11 and 7200.12 is a slightly different architecture.

if you just google the model - ST31000528AS - it shows as a 7200.12
You can see the drive on Seagate's site
here.

The ST31000524AS is a 6Gb/s drive whereas the ST31000528AS is 3GB/s:

Can I use a ST31000524AS and a ST31000528AS in a raid configuration?
December 13th, 2012, 14:27
These two drives can be used together in a raid configuration at 3Gbs/sec. One of my four ST31000528AS's failed in a raid 1+0 configuration and was replaced by Seagate under warranty with a ST31000524AS which worked fine after swapping them out. All four drives are 1TB and connected to 3Gbs/sec ports on the mobo.
