Seagate ST31000528AS 7200:12 1TB Benchmarks and S.M.A.R.T.

Hi..

How Healthy is My 1TB , When I Bought 1TB , there was some sound coming mostly when seeking, i though it was defective, then i replaced with new one, This one also has the same sound..

why this happens, i think this is normal , I have the same sound with my Old 80Gb Seagate Sata I [ it's almost 7 years old running fine nw with sound], Which is louder than 1Tb, i think two platter Harddisks may produce this sound.... Check out this Youtube, someone has with the same sound....

that something to do with the heads seeking on the platter moving into postion

have you dropped the drive at all
and did you do a full format of the drive before use

seagate drives are crap they use to be good

but not anymore they fail more times then ibm deathstar

i got a 500gb with the same issue drive works fine and checks out fine no errors

No i didn't drop at all, like i said first drive has these sound, so replaced another drive immediately, this one also has got the same scratching sound, No first time when hooked , i have done a Full Format[slow Format] ..... don't know why this two Platter drives have these sounds[Especially From Seagates] From my 8 Years of Computer xperience, none of Seagate Drives Failed, I trust them.. I have Seagate 80GB SATA I Running till now.....
