Self Wiping Hard Drive

Hi All,

Curious if anyone has any thoughts on this article?

Self-Wiping Hard Drives... Question is, what could cause them to self-wipe? If someone has it locked down tight enough, could DDI or SD tools cause it to wipe? I'm sure all the manufacturers of DR equipment will come up with some solution eventually, but what if these drives start failing before then? Scary to think that recovery tools may wipe a drive while you're extracting user data for them...

going to have a secret partition where the software will be installed at factory level

the drive only wipes if its connected to a unknown host like

if you worked at microsoft.

and you connect it to apple

total fails

same goes if you take the drive out of the laptop
and try to read the information

total fails

so in a way its bad news as if your laptop fails then how the hell are u going to get your data back

at the moment there is something like this in use
