Seagate LOD File Format

August 15th, 2011, 5:20

I want to perform a firmware downgrade for one of my Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 drives.
Specifically i want to downgrade from JC47 to CC49.
I there is a good chance it would brick the drive but i don't care, i'm doing it for an academic research purpose.
I'm using Seagate flash util to perform the downgrade, but the drive won't accept the new FW - it says invalid data, and i think it won't accept it because the FW version is older than the one installed on the drive.

Does any one have performed a research on Seagate LOD files and found where the FW version is located?
Any help/information regarding these LOD files and the FW process would be appreciated.
