ST3300657SS-H?

May 10th, 2012, 20:07

I have a drive that is a Dell OEM.

Its based off the ST3300657. Seagate Cheetah 15k.7 SAS6gbps 300GB
But this dell one appended -H, is 146gb and 3gbps.

What i am trying to determine is, if the drive was made specifically for Dell

OR

If Dell put special firmware on it so they could sell 146gb 15k.7 Cheetahs, since Seagate no longer sells that size.

Do you think i could flash the drive with the standard firmware? I found the latest 15k.7 300gb firmware on the internet, but im hesitant to start bricking expensive drives.

Yes. You can do that..
As long as you don't mind sending me the resultant brick. I always wanted to see inside that specific model.
