what is the liquid solution used to make the platter more alive?
I ask that question because, I think I have erased the read/write platter raw data.
I've tried to touch the surface of the hard disk platter with a smooth cloth, wiping to make it shinny again
When I closed the hard disk cover and test, it's not responding anymore.
So, I'm asking for any idea, what are the possible liquid solution for the hard disk platter to make it active again.
I'm not concern about data recovery.
thanks

Let me think about that. I remember I used something one time and it worked.

It also worked when I put a computer cleaner, a bad odor with gas like solution, but that was a long time ago with 100mb hard disk
But now I'm very careful because this is not just mb, this is gb
thanks

I meant it's detected with same model and brand, with same size but during the use of hddtune quick test, all sectors are bad.

What is the drive's complete model?

Be aware that the bulk of the drive's firmware is stored in a hidden System Area on the platters
What the, whew, So, I destroyed the firmware? by touching the platter grounds, oh men.
The hardisk is seagate 160gig iDE
thanks

This does not mean complete model. The MDL spec will tell exactly the model. It is on the label on top of the drive.
Either way, if you can read the model and capacity and it is display in some sort of utility, then that is a promising sign.
Although can't exclude the possibility, I think the problem is likely to be with something other than the firmware.
Need pro help on this one. Recommend to no longer power the drive on and open its cover.

If datarecovery is not important dump this drive; the fact that this drive has been opened and you touched the platter with some tissue makes it unusable for datastorage.

@labtec,
yes the hardisk is detected with exact brand and model, about formatting the drive, yes I'm beginning to format for now, BUT there are lots of loud noise, it's on its way to 2% using HDDGURU, and it's to slow, it's starts from 2.+mb/s to now it's 16.5mb/s, lol
What's funny upon formatting the drive, it stops for a while then continue to format, and so on, and I'm waiting when it's finished.
@dobrevjetser,
No, I have non left for buying another hardisk, lol

it's 12% on 10.5mb/s, and it's making a noise

This thread is a joke, right?

Forget it. You killed this harddisk.

Ok, the hardisk failed to finished the format.
But, I'll try to do it again, soon.
Probably a liquid without H2o and no Acid.
thanks
