Seagate DKS2E-H4R0SS Unlock with Generic Seagate Firmware

June 26th, 2024, 5:13

Need help with Seagate DKS2E-H4R0SS Unlock with Generic Seagate Firmware.

I am willing to compensate financially to anyone who is willing to put in the effort and help me achieve this.

So far I have tried formatting these disks from 520 Bytes to 512 bytes using sg_utils but even after formatting successfully. They fail when we try to write data onto them. I assume its a custom Hitachi storage firmware that has locked the disks to work in Hitachi storage only. A generic firmawre would remove this limitation and i would be able to use the disks again.

i can provide further information if required.

Hi there,
I was just wondering if you ever managed to get your drives working?
I have ten of these drives and I'm struggling.
I have managed to flash the firmware and format to 512 block size, but I'm still having issues formatting to NTFS in Windows Disk Manager.
I have located the original Seagate firmware which can be found here:https://files.hddguru.com/download/Firmware%20updates/Seagate/ConstellationES3-Megalodon-SAS-STD-E007.zip

I updated the firmware using openSeaChest and the drives now show the correct model number (they are no longer listed as DKS2E-H4R0SS)
If you have any advice it would be appreciated
