True some SMART parameters are wired to modules within the Utility Area. For example ..
G-List SMART ID5 is connected to G-List
Temp is connected to temp sensor
etc etc

You can reset smart parameters all day and all night but you will always have a big G-list (if you have real G-list entries) :O)

Your drive is old and cries for the trash/bin/rubbish heap

Yes, on maxtor, with special techno commands, You can reset the smart.
But if You have G-list problems, this will not solve your problem anyway.

(The smart will cleared for like start stop count:1, and so on, but still failed with a lot of reallocated sectors....)

Persze, jöhet! :)

SS means SelfScan, the factory recalibration routine wich destroys the data, and recalibrates the adaptives.
