I completely agree. Any company or technician for that matter worth his or her salt should not have to worry about limiting a recovery on another company. If you can recover and customer wants to go somewhere else then let them. Your ability to do your job is not tarnished or undermined in any way. It is just the freedom of choice that the customer has.

More can be said for someone who has a spine and passes the work on than someone who limits the possibilities for others. Naming and shaming will do nothing. You all know who you are

What about drives with finger prints on the platters? Weve had a few of them sent to us!

We seem to get lots of disks already sent to companies that certainly dont do the client much in the way of favours. We even had one disk sent back to us with no heads in at all!

You are right of course, the problem is that of proving the fact.

But what is to say indefinately that the fingerprints are from the DR company, or previous attempts prior to being sent for professional analysis? Obviously a DR company will deny it, and customers may not want to admit they have been daft enough to contaminate the media.

The only person in a position to name these DR companies is the customers themselves.

finger prints don't lie.

maybe if we all become members of the IRDPA we will need to submit finger prints of each and every employee

Sometimes having a drive that has been tampered with can help get my eagerness for D.R. going. There is nothing better in the data recovery game than recovering something that someone has effed up.

It also increases sales possibilities

I agree, but its a little frustrating where you recieve a completely non-recoverable HDD with a thousand scores to the platter, where the previous DR company got a full recovery and supplied a file list to the customer, before charging an overpriced fee!

Well some of us are competent enough to image around the "1000" rings of damage and recover data for the poor customer.

When you get to my level of greatnes maybe you'll understand
