Hi all, I've got a ST3500320AS that had the SD15 firmware and became a brick. I fixed that part and the drive was fine, became a brick again, and fixed it again. Then I updated the firmware to SD1A and it's giving me problems... 1stly it fails everything in seatools and it slows the pc down a little bit. I put firmware AD14 on and it worked, just can't get the drive working in windows then because it can't get mounted but on SD1A it can...

Does anyone maybe have working firmware (or other versions I can try - I have AD14 and SD1A) for this drive or any help that I can try in terminal or something please?

Kind regards,
Mielie

ps on SD1A in pc tools disk suite it shows cache as 0mb

hello,

You should update to 1A, and if not works, than RMA it back to seagate....

This is the best what you can do.

Thanks for the reply,

But the thing is it went to seagate amsterdam and they sent me back the drive in the same condition.
Isn't there a way to program the firmware through the serial port? I have Bin files. I'm not too much bothered about the drive and won't trust it again, I'd just like to experiment and play around a bit

I also have the Seagate firmware problem on a 1tb drive. Followed the instructions at the msfn website to connect to the drive TTL port.

However CTRL+Z does not bring up the F3 prompt only >

if I type in ? I get

Boot Cmds:
DS
AP <addr>
WT <data>
RD
GO
TE
BR <divisor>
BT
?
RET

if I type in GO the drive responds

TetonST Boot Rom 2.0
Copyright Seagate 2006

This looks like some kind of boot or firmware loader. Any ideas?
