Head servo got noisy @ 3320 hours life. These disks get hammered 24/7 but when I heard the noise I turned the thrashing up to the max. The disk (hopefully the same one that is seeking loud) recalibrated a few times.
I am keeping it in production for now, I just want to erase it before RMAing it (must be before sometime in 2012.)
It does not seem to be slow and it has not returned any bad data yet. What failed and made it so loud? It can't be worn out, it's practically new

I've repaired the disk. I think maybe it won't die, but we'll see. Nobody has an idea of what happened?
The 'seek error rate' SMART attribute gives a complex number (in large word) with more than one value. Looks like, maybe long term and short term? Or different kinds of error?
