I decided to get a Barracuda 500 GB at Best Buy and did feel better to see a 7200.12 after I opened the box.

The date code is : 10254. The firmware is: CC38.

It looks like a real fast HDD. The random seeks are faster than my Caviar WD3200AAKS, when I did "cx" with MHDD.

"reliable" is a word that should no longer be associated with Seagate.

(or any other manufacturer for that matter!)

Looks like it will be good, as long as it don't brick on me! (the firmware overwriting part of itself, from a boundary address bug, IIRC)

The scan looks good with mostly <3 ms sectors.
