You say you are looking for a SATA 2.5 to USB...this is a SATA to USB. It sounds like you want to connect a USB drive to an ide/sata port on your system.

What do you need it for?

Looks like you are looking for an adapter to connect a USB device (stick, hdd etc)
to a SATA port (mainboard).

Few days ago a forum member mentioned one here, that connection to DDI does
not work.
There is one offered from SalvationData - but have no clue whether this one works.
And there is one from Ji2 ($ 370,-) offered, but no info about this one either.

Just the question whether its worth it to spend that amount.

I would go for the Ji2 device (Media Blaster), allthough its the most expensive,
but the company is reliable.

The idea is connecting an external HDD throw USB to a SATA 2.5" port.

But why do you want to do that? By pushing the data through the USB controller you've already imposed a number of limitations to what you can do with the drive (not all ATA commands will work, etc), which between that and speed are the advantages of using the SATA interface.

Moreover, in your first post you posted a USB multi-adapter. Many of these adapters will throw random noise on a failed read, rather than reporting the error, especially if there is both SATA and PATA ports, have you thoroughly tested your equipment for this problem?

The Media Blaster allows you to connect a USB drive to an IDE port. He'd have to additionally buy an IDE to SATA adapter that'd convert from the Media Blaster's IDE port to his motherboard's SATA port. Another side note is that the USB drive being used needs to either be externally powered or only need 1 USB port to power itself. If it's one of the more power hungry disks that requires two USB ports, you'll need to get power from somewhere else (the Media Blaster only has one USB port). It was really designed to be used with USB thumb drives, not for USB HDDs.

And the device isn't offically supported or tested on anything other than YEC products. There were some mixed results when trying to hook it up to a Windows system.
