Make sure you are using the original composite cable and check the connections.
If you are using a SCART cable check the connections.
Also make sure the remote control is responding to media player.
i would go into your setup menu and select video output correctly

the firmware is on the media player and not the hard drive

it sounds to us that the video not correctly selected in the menu system

On some, I have seen you have to reload it on a blank HDD. There's external software to manage it.
Don't know about the specific model.

I assume you mean that the drive worked "fine" on your PC. For that reason, it seems unlikely that there is a problem with the drive itself. Therefore it is unlikely that this is the best place for you to be asking for help.

If the drive is OK, then that suggests you have a problem with the media player, or with the way you have configured the drive to meet the requirements of the media player (e.g. if it is a PATA drive, it may need to be configured in a specific way). Therefore if I was in your situation, I would be investigating the media player, via the support channels which know about that device.

Could it be that the drive is formatted with an NTFS file system while the TV is expecting FAT32?
