Important info for matching donor drives

November 27th, 2008, 21:01

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the important information is for Western Digital Drives. I assume the model number, size etc. They also have a dcm number and an mdl etc.

What is the relavent info you must match up to find a donor drive. The one I have is:

MDL WD5000AAKS-00YGA0
DCM HBRNNT2CHN
500 Gig
WWN 50014EE1AB43DDB5
S/N WCAS84313792

Any help appreciated.
thanks.. simon

MDL WD5000AAKS-00YGA0
DCM HBRNNT2CHN
DATA
REV

The model number and extension
all these have to be the same

allso turn the drive over you will see a white bar code 14 numbers

those numbers have to match too.

not sure but i think you could swap the ROM chip over.

but the qeastion is what type of problem are you having with the drive in the first place.
