Hi,

Yes, you will need to transfer the ROM content from the bad pcb to the new one.
Without this, maybe the drive will not work or you can damage the data inside with another adaptive parameters.

hddmania have right.

Maybe we can help, if you can describe the problem precisely...
Can you upload a good quality picture from the pcb's component side?

Thank you for all the replies everyone, got a few offers on the board and deciding on one soon.

The issue is no power. I have run this in an external enclosure for quite some time now and the other day it just stopped working. There is an activity light on my enclosure and when it worked or any other drive is connected it lights up green. As soon as I connect the 4pin molex power cable to the rear of the drive it goes straight to a flashing red and I cannot feel or hear anything in the drive spin. Also the drive is not recognized by windows. I checked the back of the pcb and did not notice any burns. Also after searching the site and finding info regarding the tvs chip I figured i might as well just get ahold of another board or atleast get one on the way while i am messing with it. I didnt check voltages yet or remove the tvs chip. But will when i get some more free time. Oh yeah i dont have a tower to put it into either, but it not spinning at all makes that seem irrelevant.

A lot of great info is on this site and i appreciate everything you have put forth into making it what it has become. Everytime I have looked into a hdd issue your site come up and has the most info...thank you all!!

:D

Oh and will get a pic of the underside of pcb soon as well.
