Connor CFS1275A hard drive turns on makes musical sound

Hi

I have an old connor CFS1275A hard drive that has stopped working
it turns on and makes a musical sound and then goes silent and starts again

I was hoping if some one could help me get my data back without sending my drive to a specialist
I want to do it myself

Also if anyone has a spare PCB for this board that they could spare I would appreciate it very much as well
If there is anything I can do without replacing the PCB just to spin up and get my data off would be great

I have tried the pros and I have done some hard drive recovery my self
I think there is something wrong on the pcb BUT i cannot find anyone who has a spare pcb

if anyone has a spare pcb that they could send to me or advise if there is there anything i could do just to get the drive working
i read that some hard drives on the PCB if you remove a certain component you can start the drive up, is there anything i can do on this particular drive

The drive was working fine and then suddenly happened
no drops, knocks or anything so thinking could be something simple

will not touch as the hard drive is very old

i just powered the hard drive and it spins up and then went quiet
and spins again

what does this mean

Inconsistent story.

First of all it doesn't spin up (just beeps) and now it does spin up but then spin down?

Which is it?

99.9% NOT a PCB issue, given that it spins up then spins down again.

As splidit implies, NOT a DIY project. Especially if you're expecting it totally free

Old drives have their own peculiar problems. Pretty certain the problem is internal rather than external! Also now it appears to spin when before it didn't has probably made a recovery more complicated and of course more expensive.

i thanks for the advice but i am not shipping hard drive any where
the hard drive is going to be in front of my eyes all the time

i can do a head swap myself if required but just need a donor drive or pcb
if it works by replacing the pcb then it will be better

could you use ttl to diagnose
i turned on the drive just now and i can hear the head move and the platters move but then goes quite and does it again
so there is not musical sound no more
