USB 3.0 connectors to repair sticks

June 20th, 2016, 11:51

Hi,

I'm looking for USB 3.0 connectors to repair USB sticks.

I could find this, but on the photo it seems that the pins are perpendicular to the socket:

I'm looking for connectors more like this one, but in smaller quantities than 1000 units:

Does someone have some to sell or is also interested in such connectors, so that we could do a wholesale order ?

Thanks.

Have you looked through Farnell's catalogue, searching for USB 3.0 connector? I don't know if DigiKey or Mouser supply to Europe but they would also have something suitable, I expect.

First of all to a repair USB stick you'll need a male type[/img] (not a female as shown in the eBay link
Second I assume its needed for DR purposes (and not for a permanent use), so what difference does it make ? Take any extension USB wire, cot the male connector, solder, ready to use, job done, who is next ? ;)

Thank you Larry and Jermy,

Jermy is right, the link on eBay was wrong as thus of a female USB connector.

I could find those ones from a French seller on eBay.
He sent the connectors the day they were purchased, so they should arrive soon.

Also purchased those cheaper ones, but from Hong Kong, which should arrive in 10 days / 2 weeks :

@Larry: Thank you for mentioning Farnell. They also sold such connectors and offered free shipping when I visited their store, but they only accept credit cards which I don't have. The alternative was registring as a company, but their online form was reserved to public limited companies and not available for self-owned ones. I cannot understand why the don't let people/companies register and prepay the merchandises.
Currently, for small to medium quantities, purchasing on eBay is a lot easier, not more expensive (if purchasing those from Hong Kong). Farnell stored the USB connectors in the US and they would have take as long to ship in Europe.

@jermy: Yes this is for DR purpose, but the stick seems not much damaged, so I can make usable again it's better than having to buy another key to save the data. In case of an emergency, I would have cut an USB wire.
