Wanted: Someone to source correct PCB & swap out ROM chip

February 1st, 2008, 19:49

Currently drive does not spin up at all, most likely due to owner plugging in a laptop adapter (with higher voltage) into the ibook as the ibook adapter didn't work. Prefer someone on West coast (US). E-mail price quote to include cost of PCB. Thanks!

I could do this for you - but bear in mind that the damage will sometimes travel to the drive internals and burn out chips on the read/write heads. Because of this, you would really need to let the person doing the swap have the entire drive to check that a simple ROM swap was all that was necessary, and that you won't have to pay for a headstack swap on top...
