One down, one to go. Saved the data on my other HD that had the same fried component on the pc board - anything reasonabley close should do the trick.
Much appreciated!

WD Marvel drive, you 99% surely will need the info off the ROM on the PCB, either read/write or physically xfer the ROM chip to the new PCB.

Thanks for your reply but I'm not sure I understand your directions. Can you explain or point me to a thread that can provide further details please?
The last WD drive (120gb) with the same burned out component, I just removed the old pcb and popped in the new one and it ran fine.

Here's a picture of the fried component on the pcb.
The pcb number is 2061-001179-000-DH
With the 120gb drive that had the same fried part (both taken out simultaneously by a failed psu) I just swapped in the new pcb and it fired right up (external drive).

oops. I was wrong, looking at the pic and having the PCB p/n helps. This isn't Marvel drive, I was thinking of GU family, not FU like this is.
PCB should work if ROM version is the same and the head map is the same.
