Why not just resolder the original connector, or wire up a larger "B" connector?

You're giving advice to a guy who runs his dr business out of a small apartment (second floor, next to the pool, to be exact). I thought you didn't like helping people with no electrical experience?

If the OP had been a DIY-er, I would have phrased my response as a statement. However, as I knew he was a DR pro, I wondered whether the problem was as simple as it appeared. On face value it looks like a straightforward soldering job, but perhaps there are other issues with the PCB.

I have no idea how you came to believe that I don't "like helping people with no electrical experience". I have participated in many forums for more than a decade and I have always tried to help anyone who asked, both DIY-ers and DR people alike, both experienced and inexperienced. In fact I have responded to numerous private requests for help from both sides of the fence, mostly from inexperienced people.

BTW, by "people", I presume you mean "data recovery people". As for the OP's choice of business premises, ISTR a discussion where one of your own colleagues was "exposed" as working from home. I don't recall it being a cause for ridicule then.
