Hi!!

I'm desperate to buy this Western Digital HDD off anyone

Model: WD3200AAJB-00TYA0
DCM: HARCHV2CBN
Made in Thailand

My HDD crashed without any signs all of a sudden. No sounds, no nothing and 4 hours before that, opening/saving file was a breeze.

I've sent it to a recovery data centre for evaluation and was told that the motor died and burnt a chip. For them to recover the data off the dead HDD, I will need to find them an exact match.

Please, if you have a working similar HDD as per the model and DCM numbers, contact me.

Thanks!!

When they say "motor chip" I assume they mean the motor controller on the PCB?

Then why would they need an exact match (DCM and all)? If they were a proper DR company (not just a PC repair shop) then they would be able to do this easily.

I would try and get more info from them on what the REAL problem is, or if they don't know send it to someone who does!

Hi Yespecan,

I actually came across this thread by chance because I have this same exact model HDD (well, I have two actually, but one is in use at the moment) and I was looking to sell the one I wasn't using on eBay. I know this message was posted back in February of this year, but I figured it might be worth a shot to try getting in contact with you. The only problem I can foresee is that I live in the States (Virginia) to be exact, and if the info under your avatar area is accurate, shipping to Singapore might be a little expensive. I was willing to let it go for $29.00 USD, but it's that shipping part that might hinder matters (I don't know). Well, if anything, I'm certain you've resolved the issue by now, but if not and in the off chance you are still interested, post a reply or send me a PM. Either way, take care and I hope you've managed to find a better/more economical solution. :D

Wow... just "guesstimating" how much shipping costs would be using this web site as a reference: http://pe.usps.gov/text/imm/ps_027.htm , the shipping would come out anywhere from a couple dollars more to almost double the cost of the item itself! (I used two pounds as a guide because the drive weighs 1.4 lbs. and included a little head room to factor in the packaging to ensure it gets there undamaged).
